RE: Taking public transit into NYcity

We stayed in Secaucus, NJ at the Embassy Suites. The Hotel had free breakfast, two free happy hour drinks, free parking, laundry and swimming pool. There is a mall nearby and several resturaunts within walking distance. It also has a bus stop right accross the street that will take you the seven miles through the Lincoln Tunnel right to the Port Authority bus terminal and subway access to just about any place you wat to go. It worked great for us and the locals were very helpful to help point us in the right direction an how to use the various types of ticket machines. Bring lots of small bills for the machines. If you plan on five, six or more subway stops in a day, a all day pass is a good option and we gave ours away at the end of the day to who ever was buying tickets.
You do not need to be scared about driving in Manhatten but it is not the the best way for sight see'rs to get around at all. We saw many $100,000 plus vehicles all over the place but they can afford the outragous parking expenses.

RE: Anyone had problems with State Farm Insurance Claims

I have had two major claims in the last two years with State Farm. One was auto with 18k worth of damage I did and one was a crane hauling trees from the yard broke through my septic tank and fell against the house. Just signed off on all the work for that one this morning after $50k and 4 1/2 months of work. State Farm will collect from the crane company insurer for that one. I did did a rate increase for the auto claim which totaled $550 for the lose of rating and the deductible. $550 for $18,000 in repairs? got off easy with that one.
State Farm has been better than I could have ever expected!! Very fast and flexible. Maybe it helps that I have been using State Farm for 22 years and currently insure 6 items.

RE: Securing a Yamaha EF2400iS Genny

I run a heavy cable through the handles. Most thieves don't carry tool sets (unless they steal your tool kit out of your storage compartment). They look for easy opportunities.

RE: How to handle non-RV family that want to borrow your MH?

I don't let anyone drive my Diesel truck. A MH would be out of the question!! I simple response would be "my insurance only covers "me" as the driver".

RE: how to plan an out west trip

With only 18 days (six of which will be getting there and back), I'd make absolutely makes plans to avoid wasting any time searching for open campsites. I'd also reccommend full hook up sites to minimize the need to make extra stops for water and dumping. Plan ahead as much as you possibly can so you know when and where you need to be.
Get Streets and Trips to help with your route planning.
Use Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone as you base camp there. You can and should make reservations now.
No suggestions for the other spots.

RE: Welcome to California & it's okay if your dog "drives"

Every time a new law is passed, and no consideration is given to enforcement, it waters down the respect people have for the law. I still see loads of people on their cell phones, they make U-turns across double yellow lines, 80 is the average speed on the I-5, trucks (and MH's and cars towing boats) ride all the lanes, dogs poop on the grass and it goes unnoticed by owners, radios are too loud, parties go on past midnight, and gardeners and construction workers start way before 7AM. I'm sure you can add to this short list. Civil law already penalizes people who cause accidents. How about enforcing the current law that requires a drivers license and insurance for all drivers in California. Just my opinion. Thank's Arnold.
A dozen more reasons not to live in CA in one post!!

RE: OREGON COAST

For the north part of Oregon, I'd stay at the Cannon Beach RV Resort in Cannon Beach. It is a great quaint little town with many great shops and resturants all within walking distance from the campground. It's also a great base camp for day trip exploring further north to Seaside and Ft Stevens and down south to Tillamook.

RE: Digital TV On The Road - Your Experience

Spent 45+ days this summer traveling in WA, OR, ID, and MT. Found very few digital and many fuzzy analog stations. Gonna be an aweful lot of unhappy people when analog shuts down unless they boost up the digital signals.

RE: I have a mod idea and am open to suggestions

Hanging the keys on a hook under the cabinet doesn't work well when you are outside trying to get in. Read the original post again.
You put the hook in the house kitchen...............

RE: I have a mod idea and am open to suggestions

"She is getting tired of asking "where are the keys""
Simple solution...........
go buy a hook, screw the hook into the bottom of a upper cabinet in the kitchen, and hang up the keys.
